Tell about this item to your friends:

This is a tasoly decorated with brass cast kit orginalof which was found in the village of Shestovitsa, near the town of Chernigov, Ukraine. It is not yet clear whether the two rings belonged to the tarsoly casting but it may have been well so as they were found nearby. If they did, this tarsoly was hung up to the belt in an unusual way as these two brass rings were to be tied to the belt instead of hanging the purse on common leather loop. You may see what the original kit looked like on the pictures . Tarsoly (pronounced "tArshoy") is a type of belt pouch of hungarian origin with long tradition. It was a kind of fashion of the time (around 10c.) throughout Hungary and the lands to the East and North. It was usually decorated with brass mounts or a single decorated metal plate. The richness of decoration of the tarsoly and of the belt on which it was worn demonstrated high rank and wealth of the owner. Size 15 x 15 cm
