Sallet was type of helmet with an extending back part to protect the neck. It came to replace the bascinet in 15c. Sallet existed in a lot of variations the two main being italian and german. German sallets had usually longer "tails" - protruding neckguards. > A version of sallet from England, Coventry. A distinct shape of the top of this helm differs it from the ones from Germany or Italy. There are very few english sallets known.
