Chingul Kuman (Polovtsy) belt set from Chingul Mound in Zaporozhye Region of South Ukraine. 13th cent. An elderly man was buried in the mound accompanied by large number of precious things among which was an unusual belt with silver cast gilded fittings. The belt itself was made of samite tissue which was very precious and had 20 of small narrow mounts attached to it and a couple of spoon-like fasteners with lion and fish creature reliefs on them. These fasteners had a hole in the protruding part which inserted into buckle opening and fastened the belt. The belt also had a double sided strapend of two plates. The set contains: buckle, strapend, 2 fasteners, 30 mounts. For 25 mm wide belt.
