This is a tasoly decorated with a copy of the brass cast set found in Kiev, Ukraine.
Tarsoly (pronounced "tArshoy") is a type of belt pouch (10-11 century) of hungarian origin with long tradition. It was a kind of fashion of the time throughout Hungary and the lands to the East and North. It was usually decorated with brass mounts or with a single decorated metal plate. The richness of decoration of the tarsoly and of the belt on which it was worn demonstrated high rank, bravery and wealth of the owner.
