Gothic armour was fully jointed plate armour evolved in the second half of the 15 th century, essentially in Germany. It featured vertical lines, arches and spiky silhouettes which had much in common with Gothic architecture. Curves, fluting and ridges were modeled in order to strengthen armor and deflect arrows and other weaponry of the time as well as to decorate armour. Gothic armour excellently conformed to the human body to protect it with minimal limitation of movement and weight.
Arm protection was essential since arms were holding weapons. Gauntlets of various designs were produced, often highly decorated. Good gauntlets were a kind of fashion for the knights of the time.
Gothic fingered gauntlets of generalized type. Jointed fingers.
The model is based on the gauntlets of the armour kit of Arch Duke Sigizmund of Tyrol, Germany, second half 15c.
