Hourglass gauntlets were widespread all over Europe in 14-early 15cc. They are called so because of the shape of the wrist secton which was made of a single piece of metal with fingers then added. The cuff had been made quite flared not to prevent wrist movement and might have been made locked or not on the inner side.
The fingers might have been of two types - jointed or lamellar. This model has the jointed ones. The fingers are made SCA legal. Leather gloves inside.
 This model is based on the excavation finding from the battle of Visby, Sweden, 1361 and has brigandine cuffs.
